Rapunzel

You are my wild rampion
guarded like a valuable –
heirloom, trinket, bauble, gem.

I know you,
pulp and flesh.

I plucked you
prematurely, then hid you
out of sight.

My black thorns threaten
the eyes of spies
or anyone who creeps too close.

No spell can keep you
here with me
so strength will have to do.

What is mine
cannot be stolen
if I hold it
tight enough.
