My newest project is a poetry chapbook titled Sad Doll Disease.
Inspired by the phenomenon that warps, distorts, and eventually breaks down old plastic dolls, Sad Doll Disease is a quasi-memoir that traces the experiences of one trans woman against shifting backdrops of rural gothic Americana: from run-down ghost towns to dusty basement nurseries, harvest-time corn fields to moldering cemeteries, sterile asylum wards to deserted country byways, the poems in this collections use the image of Sad Doll Disease to explore themes of intergenerational trauma, found family, trans womanhood, and mental illness.
